In 2009 I was part of a study group in Minneapolis with four other guys (Dave, Mike, Paul, and Rod). We spent almost a year studying the book of Revelation, so I set up this site to archive our studies online. Until early 2016, the name of the blog (kloposmasm.com) consisted of the first two letters of each of our last names, as shown here. In 2012 my beautiful wife, Jasmine, joined as an occasional author. In early 2016 the URL was redirected to adammaarschalk.com, as I’m the only original group member who continues to post here.
In addition to our series on the book of Revelation, there is also now a series on the Olivet Discourse, a series about Christian Zionism, another on the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, a listing of all Bible studies, and more is to come. Thanks for stopping by. To answer your question, all of us have been or are connected to Bethlehem Baptist Church, which is pastored by John Piper. A couple of us have also been connected to an Evangelical Free church here in the Twin Cities. Personally, I grew up in a Pentecostal environment, but I have to admit that I hold on rather loosely to those roots at this time, and that my views on quite a number of matters have changed over the years. I still get along with my Pentecostal friends, though. 🙂

Hi Adam! I have another question regarding Dan. 9:26-27. Rapture theory is the peace treaty signing, what is your take?
Also, I asked a while back about Romans 11:25 and never commented…I am still chewing and I may never stop chewing. Have you ever seen a movie called Ushpizin? I love it, I love the relationships and redemption and their relationship with God. It seems interesting to me that they are somehow connected or … You gotta watch if you haven’t!

Regarding Daniel 9:26-27, yes, I’ve heard the futurist theory that this prophecy has not yet been fulfilled, and that it will be fulfilled when “the Antichrist” makes a treaty with the nation of Israel. My take is that [1] the text says no such thing [2] this was fulfilled when Jesus (the “He” at the beginning of verse 27) established the New Covenant “with many” (see Matthew 26:28), and abolished the sacrifices and offerings of the temple by Himself becoming our sacrifice. Rob, thanks for your question. I believe that Jesus returned within one generation of His 1st century ministry on this earth, just as He said He would. In short, I would point out that prior to the Olivet Discourse Jesus had already told His disciples that His coming would take place:
[1] before they would be able to go through all the towns of Israel (Matthew 10:23) and
[2] while some of them were still alive (Matthew 16:27-28).
Furthermore, He said He would come, again within that time frame:
[a] in His kingdom
[b] with His angels
[c] in the glory of His Father and
[d] to repay each person for what they had done, i.e. in judgment.
None of His disciples lived beyond the first century AD. Therefore, if He was telling the truth (and He was), His promised coming already took place.

You’ve really done yeoman’s work here.
Is it to be published? Have you considered contacting dispensationalists such as Pat Robertson so as to offer an alternative interpretation.
Dispensationalists reminds me of the controversy surround the Kennedy assasination. Once the book “Case Closed” was published–it turned out that the case was pretty much closed. You have the ground work here to do the same for dispensationalism.

This is my new devotional. I ‘m a 51 year old Preterist–last 4 years or so. So far this site is the best resource I’ve found. Any thoughts about a book or even on-line, live classes?

Adam…..I just came aross your site here….very interesting….I look forward to reading more. I am a perterist (for the past 4 years). I am 55….live in Arkansas (DEEP Bible belt!!!) so preterism is hardly even heard of. Just curious….what does John Piper think about preterism? and, have you heard of David Curtis? David is my “on-line pastor” with Berean Bible Church in VA. He is an excellent teacher. We finished a 2 year study of Acts and are now a little over a year into Romans. I am anxious to read your Rev study. So glad to find “common ground” with like believers.

I’ve been through Arkansas before, while traveling between my hometown in Canton, Ohio and Dallas, Texas. Yes, I’m familiar with David Curtis, and I really like a number of things I’ve seen from him.
It’s hard to tell what John Piper thinks of preterism. He doesn’t seem to spend much time on eschatology. I do know that he once made a statement something to this effect: “It’s nearly impossible to overestimate the significance of what happened in 70 AD when the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed.” I don’t know that he has ever really unpacked that significance, though. Apparently he is a classic premillennialist. You might learn something of his views, or at least thinking on eschatology, if you have the time to watch a 2-hour eschatology forum that he moderated back in 2009. One of the participants, Doug Wilson, is a partial-preterist (and at the same time a post-millennialist).

Looking him up just now, I see that he is known for publishing a work called, “An Ecclesiastical History, From The Birth of Christ to the Beginning of the Eighteenth Century: in which The Rise, Progress And Variation of Church Power Are Considered In Their Connection With the State Of Learning And Philosophy, and The Political History of Europe During that Period.”
Is there something in particular that you’d like to talk about concerning him?

Found you blog (there are so many to choose from some good and some … ) Enjoyed your presenrtation on Revelation as much as I have read While I have been a dispensationalist most of my life I found that sometime one must adjust their thinking to coincide with what Scripture actually teaches. I am currently teaching on one of my blogs (Dr Denis says … Doc Notes -http://drcallahan.bravemusings.com) a reexamination of the Apocalypse base of the historical facts that 70 A.D. was the end as it were of the “present age” of the Jews and the begining of the “age to come”. If you have time stop by and check out my findings so far. I write a wee bit all along so am I in part 15 now. And if you do find something that doesn’t gell let me know.
